Art in the Evening: Film screening Kraft der Utopie followed by a discussion with the directors
in the double exhibition SPACES EMBODIED

As part of the exhibition SPACES EMBODIED, we are showing the film "Kraft der Utopie — Leben mit Le Corbusier in Chandigarh" (The Power of Utopia—living with Le Corbusier in Chandigarh, 2023). The screening will be followed by a discussion with the directors Karin Bucher and Thomas Karrer, moderated by Stephan Zech, architect and 1st chairman of the Verein für Baukultur Osnabrück.

The documentary takes viewers on a journey through the fascinating history of the planned city of Chandigarh, which was created shortly after the partition of India. As the new capital of Punjab, it was to embody the ideals of democracy, progress and faith in the future. Under the direction of the renowned architect Le Corbusier, the urban planning visions were turned into reality. Chandigarh became a symbol of a modern, humane and just city, based on the needs of people and enabling a harmonious coexistence of man and nature. Through interviews, archive footage and impressive images, the film offers a deep insight into the creative power and utopian ideas behind the creation of this unique city.

The participation fee is € 9 (regular museum admission for our exhibitions).
Registration for the film screening is not required.
Drinks and snacks are free of charge.
