Luther Trialogue: The Conversation

Ecumenical thinking, living, and exemplifying as well as dialogue and cooperation are the most important components of togetherness in faith and of Christianity that should be preserved in a multi-cultural, global world  – also independent of one’s own creed. Concrete action on a local level is, consequently, always the most important step.

On 26 October 2017, Pastor Oliver Potschien will speak at the Draiflessen Collection and encourage an open conversation. Pastor Oliver leads the parish of St. Peter and manages the Petershof, a social-pastoral centre in the troubled district of Marxloh in Duisburg. In his talk, he will report on the many stories of people who come to Germany hoping for a better future as well as on the help in day-to-day life that he and his assistants provide. His work – much more than church work – comprises social work in the district and providing counselling and survival support on the day-to-day path to successful integration. His aim is to draw attention to a different Germany, one that many of us are perhaps not familiar with.
