»FOR EVERY
BODY TYPE!«

During the 1920s, well-trained salespeople worked in clothing stores, and not only at C&A. They advised customers and helped them to find the right clothing. To do so, they needed to be very familiar with the range of items on offer. However, they also had to be able to estimate the correct clothing sizes based on body types.

YOU?
Many people doubted if they could find well-fitting, off-the-rack clothing—especially if their bodies did not conform to standard sizes. C&A tried to dispel such doubts through a host of advertisements and by drawing attention to the many intermediate sizes.

ALTERATION STUDIOS

Despite the wide range of sizes, articles of clothing did not always fit properly. C&A stores had alteration studios where adjustments could be made. The tailors who worked in these studios applied the finishing touches to garments at no cost, and home delivery was free.

CUSTOM TAILORING
In addition to focusing on ready-made garments, C&A stores also had custom tailoring studios where customers could have clothing made to measure.

This way C&A was also able to serve those customers who continued to have doubts about off-the-rack garments.
