Designing initials
in the exhibition IN SEARCH OF CLUES
Most people learn about the world of books through picture books. In the Middle Ages, the profession of illuminator was highly respected. One of their tasks was to create particularly ornate initial letters of pages or sections, so-called initials. During a joint visit to our study room Liberna, we will look at some particularly beautiful examples from the collection and then create a magnificent initial ourselves.
