Distribution of Rewards

This exemplary leader full of gratitude,
Who punishes the wicked and rewards the good,

Must prick the soldiers with the spur of honor,
Since all their good fortune depends on virtue,

And what they will usually receive from vice
Is shame, contempt, and the final torment.
