Architecture SPACES EMBODIED

For every exhibition, we develop a unique architectural design that ties into the respective theme and makes it experienceable to a certain degree. The exhibition SPACES EMBODIED is no exception—it conceives the space as vibrant and dynamic.

Let your gaze wander. The works of art are sometimes presented on differently shaped wall elements, which appear to be floating in space. These wall elements are suspended from the ceiling on steel cables and anchored to the floor. This construction allows us to give the room a feeling of openness, as well as permeability, and to create the impression of gentle movement.

A big inspiration for us in this respect was the work of the South Korean artist Do Ho Suh, who is shown in the exhibition. I feel that his pieces inspire us to see spaces as living organisms, with skin, skeleton, and blood vessels. So I wanted to express this idea through the design of the exhibition architecture.

Dynamic and flowing impressions are also found in the design of the exhibition title, which is found on the cover of the catalogue and also in the foyer. The words SPACES EMBODIED are hanging from a line, suspended in space—and anchored by another line leading downward.
