Discussion event "The dream of a detached house—can I still have it?"
The exhibition SPACES EMBODIED (February 28 to August 8, 2024) focused on the complex relationship between people and their built environment. In their works, the artists in the exhibition made it clear in very different ways that people and spaces influence and shape each other.
The desire for one's own four walls as a basic human need plays a special role here. Due to the existing housing shortage and against the background of the climate protection debate, the justification of the single-family home, especially in an urban context, is repeatedly discussed.
The panel discussion is dedicated to this topic. The event will begin with a keynote speech by Prof. Dr. Elisabeth Timm from the Institute of Cultural Anthropology at the University of Münster. She will focus on both the historical development and the need for detached houses.
Prof. Jan Kampshoff, Visiting Professor of Design and Building Construction at the TU Berlin and Managing Director of modulorbeat in Münster, will also take part in the discussion.
The panel will be completed by Dr. Inken Tintemann, who conducted research into housing options for families at RWTH Aachen University and now works for the City of Düren's Office for Urban Development.
The event is free of charge. Registration is not required.
Beforehand, interested parties have the opportunity to take part in a curator's tour of the MO(NU)MENT exhibition from 6 pm. As the number of participants is limited to 12, it is necessary to register in good time at anmeldung@draiflessen.com.
