To mark the publication of his new artist's book Objects of Significance, we are delighted to invite you to an artist talk with the artist Markus Vater. After a welcome from our Director Corinna Otto, the discussion will be led by Friederike Fast, Deputy Director of the Kunstmuseum Bonn.

Based on the work series Objects of Significance, from which a selection of 27 works will be on display in the exhibition LANGUAGE/TEXT/IMAGE, Markus Vater will give an insight into his diverse artistic work and will talk with Friederike Fast about what inspires him and what thoughts and considerations accompany and shape his working process.

We look forward to celebrating the book presentation with you. Afterwards, you will have the opportunity to visit the LANGUAGE/TEXT/IMAGE exhibition and talk to the artist and the curators Birte Hinrichsen and Barbara Segelken over a drink.

Markus Vater (* 1970) is a contemporary German artist who lives and works in London and Düsseldorf. He is known for his multifaceted work, which includes drawing, painting, sculpture, animation, video, photography and texts. His works have been shown in numerous institutional group and solo exhibitions. He has been Professor of Painting/Graphics and Interdisciplinary Studies at HBK Essen since 2021.

Friederike Fast (* 1975) is Deputy Director of the Kunstmuseum Bonn. The cultural, communication and media scientist previously worked as a curator at Marta Herford, Kunstraum Hase29 in Osnabrück and as artistic director of the Lantz'schen Skulpturenpark in Düsseldorf-Lohausen among others. Most recently, she oversaw the reopening and reorganisation of the Dresden Archive of the Avant-Garde - Egidio Marzona in spring 2024.
