Films are spaces of refuge. The Peggy and Thomas Henke Film Archive – the filmic-artistic portrait work (1998–2023) – is donated to the Draiflessen Collection.

On the occasion of the donation of the Peggy and Thomas Henke Film Archive, the Draiflessen Collection invites you to a ceremony on January 17, 2025. What makes the filmic oeuvre of Peggy and Thomas Henke so significant is the way in which people and their lives are portrayed. The Peggy and Thomas Henke Film Archive includes the works of Thomas Henke from the years 1998–2023 as well as the joint works of Peggy and Thomas Henke.

Immune to trends and compromises, the films reflect on experiences that touch on the entire spectrum of human reality. They are about desires, dreams, and fears, about questions of meaning, about the knowledge of one's own mortality, about being vulnerable, about radicalism, about poetry, about faith and God. Marked by a mistrust of fixed and finite systems of thought, the works are underpinned by a profoundly humane attitude. They insist on what is concrete, personal and grounded in reality.

The Draiflessen Collection would like to thank Peggy and Thomas Henke for this wonderful and generous gift. There will be a screening followed by a conversation between Martin Rudolf Brenninkmeijer, president of the Draiflessen Collection, and Thomas Henke, which will revolve around his artistic methods, the immediacy of cinematic portraits, but also the importance of artistic patronage. We look forward to further discussions afterwards. Refreshments will be provided.

The event is free of charge.
