Excursion to Oberhausen and Essen
as a part of the exhibition MIX & MATCH
At the Gasometer Oberhausen, we’ll visit the exhibition “Mythos Wald,” which explores the forest from a wide variety of perspectives: as a natural environment, a cultural symbol, and a canvas for human imagination. Large-scale installations, as well as photographic, film, and sound works, bring the forest to life as a habitat, an economic factor, a place of longing, and a mysterious myth. The impressive interior of the former gasometer enhances the immediate, immersive effect of the exhibition.
Next, we’ll head to the Ruhr Museum at Zollverein. In the museum’s open storage area, participants will get a special behind-the-scenes look at the museum. Unlike in a traditional exhibition, tens of thousands of objects from the archaeology, natural history, and cultural history of the Ruhr region are displayed here in an open and systematic manner.
The tour of the storage facility offers insights into organizational principles, collection practices, and the workings of a museum. The focus is on objects related to industry, work, and everyday life—and on what they reveal about the history of the Ruhr region and the region’s collective memory.
Participation fee per person € 89* (food and drinks not included).
The number of participants is limited to 34 people.
Registration by July 1 2026 via e-Mail at anmeldung@draiflessen.com or +49 (0)5452 9168-3500.
Departure: 7:30 a.m. from Draiflessen; return: Draiflessen at approximately 8:00 p.m.
