Open House
The Draiflessen Collection cordially invites you to its OPEN HOUSE on Thursday, 3 December at 5:30 p.m. Throughout the museum, a varied programme awaits you, including a lecture, lace-making demonstrations, and the opportunity to explore our current exhibitions. Special attention will be given to our special exhibition SPITZE!, which has been on display in the Study Room and DAS Forum since mid-November.
5:45 p.m.: Opening / Welcome
The President and Director of the Draiflessen Collection, Clemens Brenninkmeijer and Dr Corinna Otto, warmly welcome you.
6 p.m.: The Elite of Society – Lecture
On this special occasion, we are delighted to welcome Dr. Johannes Pietsch, fashion expert at the Bayerische Nationalmuseum, Munich, for his lecture The Elite of Society. Drawing on the themes of the exhibition SPITZE!, he will explore the profound changes in European dress between 1590 and 1650. These decades were shaped by significant political, economic and social developments that were reflected in contemporary fashion.
7 p.m.: The Art of Lace – Bobbin Lace and Needle Lace Making
On this evening, the art of lace can not only be admired but also experienced first-hand. Skilled lace makers will provide insights into the production of needle lace and bobbin lace, allowing visitors to observe their delicate craftsmanship up close. Those who would like to become actively involved can also try their hand at the first steps of bobbin lace making and learn a few basic stitches and thread crossings.
Visit the Exhibitions
Throughout the evening, from 5:30 p.m., our guides will be available in the exhibitions UNFOLDING MEMORIES (Main Space) and SPITZE!
