Excursion to the Deutsches Textilmuseum, Krefeld
The showcase exhibition TRAVEL.PICTURES in the Liberna study room presents illustrations from Nicolas de Nicolay’s travelogue alongside a selection of books and examples of sumptuous Ottoman textiles from the early modern period.
These textiles are the inspiration for our excursion to the Deutsches Textilmuseum (German Textile Museum) in Krefeld, where we’ll look at articles of clothing, fabrics, and accessories and consider the questions: What is fashion? What is Tracht (traditional costume)? Is fashion Tracht or Tracht fashion?
