Excursion to Gartenreich Dessau-Wörlitz

Prince Leopold III Friedrich Franz of Anhalt-Dessau was a strong supporter of the Enlightenment. Influenced by the ideas of Jean-Jacques Rousseau, he was inspired by his faith in reason to create a Gartenreich (Garden Kingdom) that remains unmatched to this day: the Wörlitz gardens, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. These gardens are one destination of this multi-day excursion, which also includes visits to Leipzig and Halle/Salle, two cities whose histories and events have been, and continue to be, decisively shaped by faith.

In Leipzig – city of books and publishing houses, city of science, and home to Gotthold Ephraim Lessing, Johann Sebastian Bach, and Felix Mendelssohn, among others – we’ll experience a cultural centre of the first order. And, last but not least: the excursion includes a concert at the Händel-Festspiele (Handel Festival) in Halle/Salle.
