Lecture and discussion by Mamoun Fansa
In recent years, the archaeologist and museum expert Mamoun Fansa has dealt intensively with the destruction ofhis hometown, Alepo, by the Syrian war. Aleppo, whose old town is now almost completely destroyed, is one of the oldest cities in the world, with more than 5.OOO years of cultural history. In 1986 itwas designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In his presentation Fansa talks about the city, ist cultural heritage, as well as about the possibilities and impossibilities of preservation and reconstruction.
