On the Essence of Landscape, with Jan van der Kooi
How do you capture the soul of a landscape? The second showcase exhibition during Rembrandt Year 2019 presents two artists determined to find an answer: Rembrandt Harmensz. van Rijn, who sought to capture the atmosphere, the uniqueness, of a particular stretch of land, and Frisian artist Jan van der Kooi, who uses traditional working methods and drawing techniques to get at the inner being, the intrinsic power, of people, animals, and landscapes.
