Mira Lobe’s book “DAS kleine ICH BIN ICH” (Little I-Am-Me) about the little unnamed animal who goes in search of its identity is a classic of children’s literature.
In this musical fairy tale of the same name, younger and older listeners alike can embark on a journey into the fantastic world of cello sounds and music-text associations. The expressive possibilities of music make for a playful, sensory experience, with the animals portrayed so accurately through sounds and melodies that listeners think they can hear them.
Opera and concert singer Kirsten Borchard will present the programme and recite the part of the main character. The 25-year-old composer of the piece, André Buttler, will accompany on piano. Completed in 2019, the work was commissioned for CellOro, a new cello ensemble comprising Kirsten Borchard and twelve cellists.
