With Fashion Imagery the Draiflessen Collection has developed an all-digital format which can be experienced on the homepage from 13 May 2020, from 5:00 p.m. This presentation interactively conveys the fashion of the 1920s, makes it possible to experience C&A's clothing production, which was innovative during this period, and takes a close look at clothing for women, men and children in that time.
Twelve stories allow visitors to immerse themselves in the world of C&A's product range and advertising, but also fundamentally in the world of fashion of the 1920s.

DAS Forum
The founding Brenninkmeijer family made it a task to preserve items for posterity. The Draiflessen Collection holds an extensive archive for collecting, safekeeping, and researching objects and documents as well as other items connected with the history of the family and the business.
In November 2018 a new space within the Draiflessen Collection was launched dedicated to interdisciplinary exchange on the subject of family businesses: DAS Forum, meaning THE Forum – though here “DAS” also stands for “Draiflessen, Archiv, and Sammlung” (Draiflessen, archive, and collection). DAS Forum is designed to be a place for study, research, and dialogue, and to provide space for changing presentations. “Fashion Imagery” is the first all-digital format schowcasing objects from the collection.

Fashion and spirit of the 1920s
The fashion and spirit of the 1920s still fascinate, inspire, and capture imaginations today. As forms of mass media, magazines and newspapers disseminated the newest trends in countless articles and advertisements. C&A used the latter to promote the latest in women’s, men’s, and children’s fashion.
More than 2,500 adverts from this decade alone are preserved in the Draiflessen Collection. They form the core of this presentation and chronicle the diverse range of changing styles – the drop waists, elaborate embroideries, sailor collars, lounge suits, and other trends. In addition, the advertisements afford insights into the production and supply of C&A clothing – and, with their allusions to the political, economic, and social developments of the time, offer a look at the 1920s that extends beyond the realm of fashion.

The digital offer will be expanded for its duration – information will be available at www.draiflessen.com.
