What can you expect at our OPEN AIR 2021? First of all, a debut for Draiflessen: The talented young musicians will be playing for you in the park, in an ambience that is as stylish as relaxed and, of course, Corona compliant. But the great musical variety of our event is also remarkable: The musicians combine classical chamber music with jazz and pop in a rousing, multi-faceted concert programme. The unique element is that different styles are often played by the same ensembles in the same concert, creating an astonishing blend of different soundscapes.

Out of conviction, we offer young art a platform to present itself. The musicians selected have performed on important stages all over the world, and many of them are up-and-coming young artists. But they all stand out for their passion for music and will let us experience enchantingly expressive concerts.

The festival starts on Saturday at 3 p.m. with Malte Arkona, who will playfully introduce both young and older people the world of classical music.  For the first time, this year's Draiflessen Award will be given for a first place in the national competition "Jugend musiziert". This year's winner is 17-year-old guitarist Viktor Stryapin.

The afternoon will be topped off by the harp of Liv Hansen, probably the largest instrument at this year's Open Air, and the Svevia Trombone Quartet from Stuttgart.

In the evening we will have a double act of rousing music. The renowned vision string quartet, one of the most exciting young string quartets of our time, presents a fusion of deeply moving interpretations of the great classical quartet repertoire and a large dose of groove in the crossover genre.

Afterwards, Hamburg meets the Balkans meets Westphalia with Hepta Polka. The band is playing Nordic and Balkan folk, mixed up with sounds from all over the world. Hepta Polka is a mixture of gentle dream and wild dance - music that moves from ear to heart and then to the hips.

A Matinee will open the programme on Sunday from 11.30 am. The Duo Jazzical Class has no genre limits and presents at the highest musical level instruments such as piano, classical guitar, bass guitar, saxophone, clarinet, a wide range of percussion and even vocals.

The Lunch Concert is vivified by the duo Anouchka & Katharina Hack bringing their musical freshness and passion to the stage. They appear on major European Concert Stages and were just recently nominated for an Opus Klassik as "Ensemble of the Year".
