Münsterland Festival part 11
With the Münster Symphony Orchestra

Alpine sounds without the altitude, from the peaks to the castles and palaces of the region: the music and culture of Austria will be the focus of the Münsterland Festival part 11. From 8 October to 6 November 2021, the festival team of Münsterland e.V. invites you to participate in various events at beautiful and exciting locations in Münsterland, this time with the Alpine Republic as the guest country. There will then be concerts, exhibitions and excursions throughout the region that will take their guests on a cultural journey of discovery.

The programme of this concert is also one of these, presenting two recent Austrian composers in addition to Ludwig van Beethoven's famous "Eroica". HK Gruber described his CHARIVARI as an "Austrian journal for orchestra", i.e. an "officially prescribed mask of cosiness [...] behind which Austria has learned to conceal its innermost reaction to precisely its most drastic fluctuations in fortune & its complicity in some of these". The Cello Concerto by the brilliant Austrian pianist and eccentric Friedrich Gulda is a pure provocation: a wild mix of styles from Bierzelt brass music, Alpine idyll, rock sounds and a dash of avant-garde. Everywhere: an expressive and virtuoso solo instrument. Shengzhi Guo, solo cellist of the Münster Symphony Orchestra, shows his special skills here. The conductor is Golo Berg, Generalmusikdirektor of the City of Münster.

The concert is part of the Münsterland Festival part 11.
