The collection was presented as part of the exhibition EMIL NOLDE – A CRITICAL APPROACH BY MISCHA KUBALL in 2020 and consists of four video works and a group of fine art prints comprising forty-nine prints. These works by the globally active artist Mischa Kuball were developed especially for and with the Draiflessen Collection. On display are sequences and objects from the Emil Nolde Collection in Seebüll, Germany, such as the small ethnographic sculptures, which in turn were alienated using a CT scan. Kuball used various multimedia means to critically examine the work of the German Expressionist artist Emil Nolde, particularly with regard to Nolde’s treatment of foreign cultures, his commitment to the National Socialists, and his stylization as an artist in resistance, which he intensified after 1945.
