Description
In 1971, C&A launched its own brand called “Jinglers” in response to the fashion trend in which jeans had been playing an ever-greater role since the 1960s. “The only jeans that can be heard” was an advertising slogan for “Jinglers,” aimed particularly at children, teenagers, and young adults.
The little bell on the trouser leg—complemented by an embossed button, key fob, and textile flag with the JJ symbol—was to become widely recognizable. The brass-colored bell pictured here from the 1970s is one of many such bells in our collection, many of which have survived as prototypes.
