Description
In this artist’s book, Gerhard Richter (b. 1932) brings together 285 photographs taken in a deciduous forest near Cologne. The images show typical views such as vertical trunks, scattered branches, and horizontally piled logs. The texts were created with the aid of a random generator out of fragments taken from the German forestry magazine Waldung, resulting in a meaningless collage of words. The photograph overpainted by Richter forms part of the collector’s edition of Wald / Forest, published in a limited print run of eighty copies. This book is part of a donation of selected contemporary artist books from the collector couple Ingrid and Manfred Rotert.
