Rosa Loy (b. 1958)

Rosa Loy has titled her large painting Three Parcae, choosing the Roman name for the goddesses of fate, called Moirai in Greek. Here they spin an endless thread which Atropos, sitting in a burning tree, knits instead of cutting. The knitting unravels itself as if of its own volition, and the thread thus reenters the cycle.
