Online insight into our Collections

Have you ever wondered what exactly is behind the term “Collection” in our name? Reason enough to present our collections in more detail online and give a detailed insight into what is in our archive and collection and cannot be permanently presented in a permanent exhibition. Over the last few months, we have created a new section on our homepage called COLLECTIONS to do just that. You will find it directly in the menu navigation.

Art Collection

What some people may not know: Our museum has a select art collection with works of fine and applied art from the late Middle Ages to the present day. which is constantly growing. This includes, for example, the Liberna Collection, which includes books, drawings and prints from the 15th to 17th centuries, or the Stichting Ariadne's Naaikussen—historical needlework and sewing utensils from the 18th and 19th centuries, as well as contemporary works resulting from collaborations with artists from our diverse exhibitions.

Company

In addition—after all, the founding of our company goes back to a committed initiative by the Brenninkmeijer family—we are collecting objects and documents from the family and their entrepreneurial activities. These provide detailed insights into the history of C&A from its foundation in Sneek, the Netherlands, in 1841 to the more recent past.

Our new COLLECTIONS section now invites you to discover online a special selection of our numerous and sometimes unusual objects: you will find them under the art categories of book art, graphic art, painting, applied art, sculpture and installation as well as photo and video art and under the corporate categories of fashion, advertising, commercial photography, documents as well as architecture and business inventory. Our site will continue to grow, so it will be worth checking back from time to time in the future.

We look forward to your feedback!
