The Artistic Film Portrait Work (1998-2023) by Thomas Henke and the joint work of Peggy and Thomas Henke

On January 17 this year, we held a ceremony in Draiflessen to honor the artist couple Peggy and Thomas Henke, who presented their extensive film archive to the Draiflessen Collection.

The film archive includes Thomas Henke's works from 1998 to 2023 as well as the artist couple's joint works. The artistic work of Peggy and Thomas Henke is an experimental and radical exploration of the format of the cinematic portrait. Peggy and Thomas Henke's oeuvre is characterized by an empathetic portrayal of people and their living environments and straddles the border between documentary film and media art. Their film projects, experimental films, documentaries and video installations show a wide variety of people in existential life situations: in the face of injustice, powerlessness, suffering and death, in search of expression, encounters and knowledge as well as refuge and liberation.

A recording of the conversation about the donation between Martin Rudolf Brenninkmeijer and Thomas Henke and the presentation of the filmic work by the artist couple Henke can be listened to in the videos and in our online collection.

In addition to this extraordinary new addition, we have expanded the Collections section to include further exciting objects and archive items.

We hope you enjoy discovering them!
