ROOTED AND BRANCHED

The richly illustrated book accompanying the exhibition highlights six artistic positions of the 21st century that deal in different ways with questions of belonging, interconnectedness and the interdependence of people and the world as well as things in general. The works tell of family roots, of complex ramifications in knowledge systems and of interactions between natural and cultural processes. It is always about the location of the individual in these structures.
Accompanying essays by Friederike Nastold and Simone Scharbert place the artistic works in art-historical and literary contexts and encourage further reflection on the idea of a ramified existence.
