Description
In the course of the 1960s, the fashion world changed fundamentally. The fashion scene in London, for example - from where the mini began its triumphal march - no longer focussed its fashion designs on the well-off lady, but on the younger generation. C&A reacted quickly to developments in the fashion market: as early as 1965, the company picked up on the revolutionary trend of the mini skirt. The Your Sixth Sense brand was launched in 1968 and was also intended to appeal to those customers who continued to look primarily at the innovations of haute couture from Paris in the fashion magazines.
The black mini dress shown here is an example of the short "little black dresses": it is sleeveless, fitted, with a slightly flared skirt and two large patch pockets with gold-coloured buttons. The dress is characterised by the woven pattern of the unusual outer fabric, which creates the effect of framed, juxtaposed squares.
