Our wide-ranging collection of photographs relating to C&A includes portraits of the founders Clemens (1818–1902) and August (1819–1892) Brenninkmeijer, taken in the 19th century, as well as pictures of the first C&A stores in the Netherlands. The larger part of the collection visually documents the history of the company in the Netherlands, Germany and the UK in the 20th century. Pictures of C&A branches, new shop openings and advertising campaigns are prominently recurring motifs. The collection also houses photos of C&A’s own factories, fashion shows and staff events.
