With the exhibition, the Draiflessen Collection is dedicating itself to the qualities of maps as surfaces for projecting the world. The exhibition puts maps from various epochs in relation to artworks by international artists that examine the cartographic depiction of space or the influence of maps on our view of the world.

The cabinet exhibition puts Nicolas de Nicolay’s (1517–1583) travel report in dialogue with selected books and Ottoman textiles of the early modern period and consequently shows the great significance of this travel report for the European idea of people living in the Ottoman Empire.

All people are welcome at Draiflessen! This is why we also offer tours oriented especially towards people with dementia, but also their relatives and companions.

September 2018 hatte sich die Draiflessen Collection gemeinsam mit Eva Reuther, der Einrichtungsleiterin des Altenheims Maria-Frieden, einen besonderen Programmpunkt überlegt: Das Museum als Ort der Begegnung, als Ort für alle und als Ort für (fast) alle Sinne für demenziell erkrankte Menschen.

Within the framework of the first Dementia Week in the district of Steinfurt, the Draiflessen Collection invites dementia sufferers and their relatives to a family afternoon under the motto: “Dementia: Watching and Feeling”.

Schüler besuchen im Laufe ihres Schullebens gelegentlich – mehr oder weniger freiwillig – Museen, schauen sich Ausstellungen an und werden im Klassenverband geführt. Wie auch viele andere Museen bieten wir spezielle Führungen für die unterschiedlichsten Bedürfnisse von Schulklassen an.
